What is Citizenship Amendment Act(CAA)?
The Indian government has notified the rules for implementing the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) 2019 ahead of the General Elections 2024. The act grants Indian nationality to persecuted minority migrants from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan who arrived in India up until December 31, 2014. The critics of the law argue that the CAA is discriminatory as it targets Muslims.
